Mr.van der Walt, I think that the blog has its negative and postive qualities. Yes, others can critise other students work but i don't really think your other students will actually go through and post something rude. I know in our class it really hasn't happened yet. The only people who know about our class blog are students in Mr.Max's math classes so there is no other student imput put into our blog. The critisim that we recieve is constructive. It comes from other students or from Mr.Max. It tells us how we can improve rather than saying "you suck" or something like that. Hope that helped you!!

Thanks for your comment. The best will be to try it out and see. If some negative stuff happens I will deal with it then. Thanks again.

I guess it depends also on how tightly closed or how wide open your blog would be to the public. Maybe you wouldn't have a problem with your class posting inappropriate stuff but perhaps you might get a few from a couple outsiders. Filtering the posts and approving them before they get published is probably a good way to avoid anything you don't want publicly displayed. Or, just find a private blogging site, like LiveJournal, where your class has to register under a name to be able to view and post in it.

I think that this wo ld be a good thing to do , as internet is being more widely used for school and everything else... i don't think it will be a problem, in mr.max's class, there hasn't been a problem yet, and i don't think there ever will be either... if there is something rude posted, you have the ability to delete it or edit it ...

Blogs are a good idea, but some people in this school are cruel. Especially to a certain few kids. That is what i would be most worried about...

Mr. Van der Walt,
Personally I think negative feedback wouldn't occur because there is a great amount of respect to those who are willing to make a post. Although there are some students that might be tempted to "bash" the material within a post but I'd like to believe that this wouldn't be an issue between peers of the SVRSS.

I belive what the anonymous person said. It takes the effort to log in and make a post. And people who want to bash would have to be really out to get one, and I don't think that there is very many people like that attending the SVRSS. Unless you are a really bad apple.

Have a good day.

Mr. van der Walt, Blogging, like many other things in the world, can be used for both good and evil. I personally think that if you set up your students on a blogging account you could be putting them at risk for recieving negative feedback on their work. But at the same time they could also recieve positive feedback on their work. Most students will probably leave good comments but there is always that chance that one or two wont, so its up to you wether or not you want to take that chance.

Good luck with everything,
