The Parallelogram Method

Hello Everyone,

We started out today's class with a Mental Math. Following Mental Math, Mr. Max took a survey of the class to see how people were doing daily. The results was that our class had an average of 61%.

Mr. Max was very upset to hear that many of the students in our class don't know who Eric Clapton is.
For those of you who don't know this is a picture of Eric Clapton. He was born in Ripley, Surrey, England, on March 30, 1945. Personally my favorite song by him would be Tears in Heaven. Have fun at the concert on spring break Mr. Max!

Anyways, back to math...

Today in class we talked about The Parallelogram Method and did one example on Euklid.

Here was the Example:

Not sure if the shopping cart looked like this..

or like this...

Either way, they were still fighting over it...

The Steps for Euklid are:

Step 1: create the first vector, to scale, from some origin.

Step 2: create the second vector, to scale, also from this origin.(vectors are aligned tail-to-tail)

Step 3: create the corresponding parallelogram for the situation by constructing parallels.

Step 4: create an intersection between the two new constructions (parallels)

Step 5: create the resultant, drawn from the origin to the intersection of parallels.

Homework Assignment:

Exercise 3: B6 question #4

Also a reminder: Tomorrow is a work period!
