100 Posts!! =D! ..and Probability =(

Good job to everyone who contributed. That's a lot of hard work, I think we all deserve cake!

Today in mathematics we reviewed probability. Mr. Max gave us an outline on what to expect for Wednesday & Thursday:

DAY ONE
Inquiry Task Sequences/Design & Measurement
Worth approximately 18-20 marks

DAY TWO
Written Test - 6 Units
Worth approximately 50-65 marks

* Keep in mind that Permutations and Combinations wont be labelled. You should have the ability to know when to use each.

Mr. Max recommended we add the following to our formula sheet:
P(a or b) = P(a)+P(b)
P(A or b) = P(a)+P(b)-P(a and b)

I searched the old Provincial Exams and found all the probability questions I could. Make sure to try them! =)

..Math & Ice Cream..

So I figure that its pretty much Summer I'd put up some ice cream..that are in alot of colors..so that as your reading my post your thinking about ice cream which means your thinking about math! Its really cleaver of me I know..The class began with Mental Math..like always. Mr. Max went over the class objectives that were as follows: Go over the answer for the drive way question..which was not checked for homework, Go over plans for the test which is now in the ITV Lab on Wednesday with our sub Mr.Buckner (not sure I spelled that right), and the objectives that are to be done for now Thursday. There are 22 Objectives that are to be completed..so don't forget about them. Mr.Max also gave us a hint for a question that will be on the test. If you don't remember which one it had to do with the 3 strikes on The Price Is Right! Once we finished talking about the drive way question, we went straight into learning about the Independent and Dependent Events. The Independent and Dependent is much easier to understand that than Mutually Exclusive and Inclusive. With that said this is what we learned is below.

Tip: If your having trouble with the question on accelerated math, go to the wiki websites. They've really been helping me out alot. Not all of the objectives are on there but the ones that were giving me trouble were on the website.

- Probability Test Wednesday in ITV Lab

- Wiki due Friday May 4,2007

- Formula Sheets (Handed in with test)

- All even question to be done on page 44/45

HARD HOMEWORK!!

First off we started off the day as usual with mental math. Once that was finished he gave us a big list of the stuff that is due and is going to be due as well as when our wonderful probability test is going to be. All of the due date and such are as follows....

-> Driveway Question--Due Monday

->Wiki--Due May 4th

->Accelerated Math Objectives up to 22--Due Tuesday

-> Test Review--Tuesday

-> PROBABILITY TEST--WEDNESDAY

Once he finished laying down that work load on us we went over some of the probability questions that were due.

He went over #1, #3, and #9 with us in the new probability booklet that was given to us.

#9) I am sure all of you remember this question. Not so much about what it was about.. but about how Mr. Max did a whole part wrong!!! Sorry Max I just had to rub it in, don't feel bad, even you are human. :)

Hopefully all of this makes sense you to all!! Its pretty tough stuff. Thankfully Mr. Max moved the test back a day!!! Oh and remember #10) in the probability booklet is due Monday.

Hello again everyone,

Today we started off the class as usual by doing Mental Math. We then went on to correct the homework assignment from monday which had to do with Chuck getting to his home by passing by the Skate shop. As we started to correct Mr. Max informed us that none of us got the question correct because none of us had answered the question asked. It turned out that instead of answering the question of what the chance was that he would walk by the skate shop on his way home, we all had answered how many possible paths there were for him to take past the skate shop on the way home. After a breif explination of how to do it correctly, Mr. Max asked us to get out a piece of paper and answer the right question this time.

After our corrections we moved onto the lesson for the day which was a continuation of Probability. Mr. Max started with the definition of sample space; which is the collection of all possible results of an experiment. He gave us this example;

He then asked us to come up with as many sample spaces for that example as we possibly could. Together we found these sample spaces:

We then concluded that sample spaces are a pain in the neck to create unless the total number of outcomes is fairly small. However it may be neccisary to create or verify a probability solution that has been calculated theoretically.

To conclude the class we were assigned one question from our new booklet;
